Love

My sweet Dodee passed away and there will forever be a void.
I learned some amazing things from my Dodee that I hold dear, and hope that
I someday can pass on to my children and grandchildren the value of a smile with a hug,
the desire to serve others, the way to love completely, the ability to accept all.

What a blessing to have a few days with Dodee knowing the end was near.
I was able to have a quiet moment to express my love to her as did many others that were there.

With in a 5 day period I watched my fun loving Dodee prepare not only herself but those around her for her Journey into the arms of loving Heavenly Father.

She planned her funeral with her family and expressed her love to her family.

As I was able to spend some time at my grandparents I saw some of the most pure forms of love.

I saw the most pure form of love.
A spouse's simple vigil of staying by her side and holding her hand

 The Love of a Family
The love of a grown Son taking care of his Mom
The love between a Mother and a Daughter
The love of Granddaughters taking care of the one that took care of us.
 The love of a Spouse
 The love of Daughter-in-laws
The love of a Sister-in-law comforting
The love and comfort from an amazing Bishop
The love between a Father and a Son
The love between Brother and Sister
 The love of supporting
The love between an Uncle and Niece
The love of a Niece to an Aunt
The love of Best Friends
I saw the love of Friends and neighbors deliver food to feed us all.

How sad it was to say good-bye.
I truly feel blessed to have had Dodee in my life and to have been a witness to some much Love.

Our Dodee

Dodee

Lois Leinani Thorup Jensen "Dodee"

1928 ~ 2013

Lois Leinani Thorup Jensen (Dodee), 84, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013 in her home surrounded by her family. Dodee was born May 12, 1928 in Murray, Utah to Abraham Berg and Erma Lois Boyce Thorup. She graduated from South High School. She married her eternal companion, Robert Phippen Jensen (Papa) on January 28, 1949 in the Salt Lake Temple. Dodee and Papa share a love that you don't even read about in fairy tales.

She has always been a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who had a unique way of making each person feel as if they were her favorite (we all are!). Dodee loved a party! She loved preparing and serving meals, known to be the best food in the neighborhood. Her food was known as "Dodee food". She loved family get-togethers, Easter egg hunts, Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas parties, and backyard barbeques. In fact, she would throw a party for just about anything. Many people were happy to be on the "Christmas Cookie List", as she would bake and give away over 6,000 cookies every Christmas. She never missed an opportunity to serve, visit, give a hug, or make someone smile.

She had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and served faithfully in many callings in the LDS Church. Dodee and Papa have served since 1995 as Ward Senior Singles Representatives in the Holladay 24th Ward. They have also served together since 1998 in the Baptistry at the Jordan River Temple. These are callings that they both love dearly.

Dodee is survived by her husband Robert. Sons: Randy (Karen), Brad (Teri), Scott (Susan), Mike, and daughter Lori (her "partner in crime"), 22 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, brother Leo (Jeanne) Thorup and sister Elaine (Robert) Hout. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A viewing will be held Wednesday, March 13 at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the LDS Holladay 24th Ward, 4395 Albright Drive (2145 East), Thursday, March 14 at 11:00 a.m., with a viewing prior to the services from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.

The family expresses thanks to the staff at Utah Cancer Specialists, Chris Blain, Dr. Robert Payne and staff, and Amy Jensen at Hearts for Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, please bake some cookies and give them away.
